Last week a trade show for gold, jewelry and precious stones was held for the first time in Teheran. The local media reported that the value of the items on display reached $50 million.
On display at the show, which took place on August 29-31, were rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings, many of which were embedded with precious stones.
The show`s manager Ali Nikmard Tehrani told the PressTV website that if one disregards oil exports, the carpet and jewelry industries are a main source of revenue for the country.
Last year Iran exported gold jewelry valued at $120 million, mainly to the Persian Gulf countries and central Asia.
